New Bike

Kaden with his old Huffy.
I love the camo gear.
June 28, 2013
Yesterday, Josh found this gem of a bike, a BMX Mongoose Ravage, at a garage sale for $40.  It's only been ridden a few times.  Kaden is starting to learn tricks and this bike will be perfect to assist him in perfecting his moves.

Splash Fun!

 June 27, 2013
We made these great splash toys out of sponges from the $1 store.  The kids had a blast with them!
 Ready to play.
Better than water balloons, since they can be reused over and over.  And easier to refill than squirt guns.  These splash sponges are awesome!
Also, we recently picked up a 6 foot kiddie pool.  Just another way to have fun and beat the heat.

Recent Artwork

Kaden has really been starting to branch out from his classic stick figure man.
Above: "A Spartan"
The beloved stick figure.
He's very good at drawing the D.S.
...Probably because he's drawn it so many times.

Kah-Nee-Ta

June 25, 2013
Mom and I took the boys to Kah-Nee-Ta Warm Springs.
The water is normally 92 degrees, but in the summer they cool it down.  The water was still warm, maybe just a touch hotter than lukewarm.  At Kah-Nee-Ta, you're allowed to bring whatever blow-up toys you want and they even provide a handy air station too.  Makes blowing up that huge whale very easy.
About an hour after we started swimming, it began raining.
Kaden and Versii took cover under the whale.

He didn't want to go down the water slides, but had a blast playing in the pool.  The funny thing is that he fussed about going and at the last minute decided he would go.  Then, even in the rain, he didn't want to leave.
If it weren't for the fact that he was getting hungry, he may never have climbed out of the pool.
On our way home, we came across these wild horses on the reservation.

Campout at Rock Creek

 June 21, 2013
Campout with Dad and Grandpa at Rock Creek Reservoir.
They camped in a tent this time.
Most of the time they like to camp in cabins or yurts.
 The boys found a caterpillar.
On their way home they stopped at Trillium Lake and decided that would be there next camping destination.
Beautiful view of Mt. Hood in the background.

Swim Spectator

June 18, 2013
Versii and Paxton started swim lessons.
Kaden chose not to take lessons this time, since he's already had some, but he tagged along to watch his little brothers.

Bike Tricks!

Kaden's showing off his newly learned stunt riding.

Kaden's video.
He said, "This better be going on You Tube!"
...So here it is.

First Campout of Summer

 June 7, 2013
Josh picked up the boys on their last day of school and took them on the first campout of summer:
Silver Falls State Park
Beautiful waterfalls!
Hiking around camp.
A camp classic:
Roasted (or shall we say, burnt) marshmallows for s'mores.
A must have for any campout!

Costume Party

 June 2, 2013
The boys neighbor friends, Mason and Linden, had a birthday costume party at their home. The boys were really excited for the chance to dress up.
Kaden monkeying around on the ropes.
Kaden after he had his face painted.
He wanted to look like he was dirty and beat-up.
Kaden and our neighbor Ruth, after the party, posing for a picture.
She dressed up as a werewolf.

Ape Caves!

 June 1, 2013
Kaden went out to the Ape Caves with his brothers, Dad and Grandpa.  While inside the caves, they all turned out their flashlights to see just how dark it really was...but I hear that even Kaden couldn't wait to turn them back on.  Not a fan of pitch black.
